Rollerblading

For all those who have ever spotted anyone skating down the streets of London and thought: “man that looks cool, I wish I could do that!” – here’s how you get on the path to becoming England’s best rollerblader:

1. You can sign up for a beginners’ course here. New courses start early February 2012, so book soon!

2. And even more courses here – in very attractive locations, such as Hyde Park, and also boasting good reviews, for instance from the Financial Times.

3. Some shops offer free skating lessons if you buy a pair of skates – check www.freeskatelesson.co.uk for more details.

4. Here’s a great incentive – once you know how to skate (you have to be able to stop comfortably), you can join in one of the different city rides: London Friday Night Skate, Easy Peasy (Saturday mornings), or Rollerstroll (2pm Sundays). General info on all of these can be found here

I have to say, after writing this post I do feel like signing up for one of those myself! Those Saturday and Sunday rides look like lots of relaxed fun (the Friday ones are for slightly more advanced users).

What do you think about it?
